Exterior Renovation Enhances Downtown Wadsworth
The corner of High Street and Broad is looking more like a younger version of itself these days. That’s thanks to the wonderful restoration of the stately brick building by its current owner, Mr. Patrick O’Neill of The O’Neill Group.
The downtown structure, built nearly one hundred years ago, has gone through several changes through the years which deviated from its intended architectural style.
Along with Whole Day Café, who also resides in the building, Mr. O’Neill has taken great care and consideration to preserve the structure’s original integrity and character. A new beautiful exterior restoration now tops off the historically accurate interior. The building recently received an exterior face lift which included new windows, window casings and moldings along with a fresh coat of paint. Most noticeably, local contractors removed tired awnings and installed new transom windows to replace the original ones that were covered over by former occupants.
The renovation is also a prime example of how locally owned businesses are a tremendous asset to the economy and to the community. By hiring local businesses to complete the construction and restoration of a piece of Wadsworth history, Mr. O’Neill has made another great investment in the community where he grew up and now operates his business. “I love Wadsworth, the people and the community. As a member of The Downtown Wadsworth, Inc. organization, I feel it is important to lead by example in restoring our building. Along with other local business owners like Bob Thurber, Jack Ollom and Bill Simmons –to name a few- I think we are making a difference in Wadsworth,” said O’Neill.
